What’s on the menu at Tivoli, opening Friday 21 December

If you’re a fan of big screen action, your expectations of fun at the flicks are about to be offered a whole new cinematic dimension when boutique cinema concept Tivoli opens its doors in SouthGate on Friday 21 December.

Tivoli brings state-of-the-art technology (including incredible all-laser projection, don’cha know,) tasteful interiors, luxurious extra-wide sofa seating in the auditorium and a schedule of blockbuster, arthouse and independent films together in perfect harmony. But what’s a cinema got to do with Pig Guide news? Opening credits, prepare to roll…

Tivoli aims to offer “a laid-back charismatic neighbourhood destination, redefining the casual dining and movie-going experience by pairing beautifully designed café-bar lounges with stylish auditoria.” Gosh! To this end, a fully-licensed café-bar and lounge will serve a range of refreshments including cakes, pastries, coffee, wines, beers and cocktails throughout the day, while a main course menu offers a selection of movie-night favourites such as wild boar hot dogs, gourmet burgers, pizzas, sharing platters and grilled cheese sandwiches – all scratch-cooked from seasonal, largely locally sourced ingredients – to be served in either the lounge areas or during screenings at your sofa on individual tables; there’ll be none of that awkward scrabbling around in a take-away bag moments here!

Meanwhile, a 20-seater Directors Lounge and Screen is available for exclusive use, offering what the Tivoli folk promise will be “a unique and exclusive cinematic and dining experience in a super-premium environment.”

Will the Tivoli become a red carpet destination for foodie film fans? See you in the back row, Piggies!
