This week, The Pig is mostly…
Booking now for a tasty selection of forthcoming foodie events at the Bath Priory (pictured): the Fork to Fork garden/kitchen tour and lunch on Thursday 11 September (£45pp); a sumptuous feast matched with tipples from the Delaire Graff Winery on Thursday 18 September (£75pp); lunch with none other than legendary kitchen God Michel Roux on Wednesday 24 September (£65pp) – et voila!
Watching Bath prepare to say “gotcha” to Hotcha, apparently the “UK’s fastest growing Chinese takeaway chain”, opening two branches in Bath (Oldfield Park and London Road) over the coming weeks. The Bath chain invasion is, it seems, unstoppable, but The Pig’s favourite purveyors of non-stop exotica all keep it local: use or lose the Peking (Kingsmead Square), Hon Fusion (Widcombe) and Hoi Faan (St James Parade) today!
“Feeding a Friend for Free” (okay, splitting the cut-price bill) at The Bear Hotel on Bear Flat/Wellsway every Tuesday: take your mate, choose 2/3 courses from the seasonal menu for just £14.50/19.50 and bear this in mind: you buy one, you get one free!
Lovin’ the (picnic in the) park life at Bath’s cutest seasonal alfresco suntraps: the refreshment hut in Parade Gardens; the “alpine chalet” in Victoria Park; the Indulgence Kiosk in Sydney Gardens; the lakeside tea shed in Prior Park Landscape Gardens
Addicted to Utta Nutta peanut butter since Katie Sargent – the woman responsible for The Pig’s crunch du jour – popped up as a guest trader at Bath Farmers’ Market a couple of weeks ago. This (n)utterly delightful melange is made in Wiltshire from dark roasted peanuts, Himalayan salt…and nowt else. Tuck in, Piggies!
