the scallop shell reveals plans for new second floor dining room
It’s always well worth enduring lengthy queues at peak times for a table at much-loved fish’n’chip emporium the Scallop Shell on Monmouth Street. But from early next year, the anticipation for a stay-put super seafood treat is set to get much easier on weary feet when a fully-refurbished second floor dining room – which will bring a further 60 covers to the party and include an alfresco terrace – is set to make a splash.
“As a team and a family, we had a dream for this restaurant and the support we’ve had has just surpassed everything we hoped for,” says Scallop Shell head honcho Garry Rosser (pictured). “Its been an incredible year for us, but in my heart I knew I wanted to do more to celebrate fish from our shores, and this opportunity will allow us to open the restaurant to more people to try more fish. The work we’re doing to expand the restaurant will also bring elements of what we do on a daily basis to life, as not only are we adding another shellfish counter upstairs, but we’ll also have a new window into our potato room so if you’re dining with us, you will be able to see us making our chips on a daily basis.”
The new space will also include a brand new pebbled shellfish display featuring the best of the season’s catch from UK waters, where diners can chose their own seafood platter cooked to order; hoorah, we can’t wait to dive in!Categorised in: News
