The Great Bath Feast 2017: the feeding frenzy gets fabulous!
The Great Bath Feast is in full swing – and The Pig Guide’s got the hangovers to prove it! Having Feasted with a Farmer at Bath Farmers’ Market 20th birthday celebrations at Green Park Station on Saturday morning all the way through to dancing the night away after the Bath Good Food Awards ceremonies at the Apex Hotel on Sunday evening via Novel Wines‘ Annual Wine Tasting Party bridging the gap, what a fabulous opening weekend it turned out to be!
Huge thanks to the lovely Sherrie Eugene Hart and Pat Hart (Carib-Asian Cookery), Gallic superchef Michel Lemoine (Michel’s Kitchen), Dave Styles from Food is Fun, Gavin Lazarus and, of course, the Bath Farmers’ Market/Green Park Station team for working so hard to make Saturday so very special for all concerned. As for the merry band of locals, market regulars and totally tasty local producers that keep GPS rockin’ every Saturday morning: where would Bath be without you? Hugs all round.
On Saturday night, Novel Wines gave Bathonians the coolest, most tasteful let alone most fascinating wine tasting party we’ve ever been lucky enough to attend – good work, guys! And then, on Sunday, the glitzy Bath Good Food Awards at the glamorous Apex Hotel dominated the agenda. You can read the full lowdown on exactly who won which gong here; suffice to say, from a Pig Guide perspective on the thriving Bath food scene, everyone’s a winner – cheers,y’all! Next stop on The Great Bath Feast voyage of discovery: this very evening (Tuesday 26 September), cocktails and canapés will be served on The Mint Room terrace; the Garrick’s Head are presenting a Festival of Game; and Rupert Taylor is whipping up a Vegetarian Feast at the Abbey Hotel. Amongst a selection of afternoon tea treats tomorrow (Wednesday 27 September), local artist Carole Waller will be hosting a very special Colour into Cloth afternoon tea at the Gainsborough Bath Spa Hotel. But that’s not all that’s happening at the Gainsborough Bath Spa tomorrow… if you weren’t quick enough to book your tickets for this year’s Great Bath Feast Ambassador’s Dinner this time around (oh squeeeeal, we can’t wait!), worry not: we’ll be announcing news of our next exclusive dinner date with GBS head chef Daniel Moon shortly.
So, what are we doing on Thursday? We’re planning on treating ourselves to a lazy, post-Ambassador’s Feast Bucks’ Fizz breakfast at the Pump Room (a Great Bath Feast Tenner Treat, no less!) before getting dolled up in readiness for the Fiona Becket/Pong Cheese tasting event at Bath Recreation Ground – ooh, exciting! And Friday’s fun is already shaping up nicely too: we’ve got a choice between a Beer and Pizza splurge at Electric Bear Brewing Co and/or (could we really do both?) the seductive Sausage and Malbec pairing party at the Clifton Sausage, which just goes to prove: this year’s Great Bath Feast presents the most tasteful date-clash conundrums ever. Party on, Piggies? Wherever we turn, there’s something delicious going on this week.
