Tasty seasonal news from the Hare and Hounds

The weather is most definitely turning a bit chilly…and that means only one thing: Comfort Food season is most definitely upon us! So, make like The Pig and hoof it up the hill to the Hare and Hounds, where head chef Emma Carpenter has devised a brand new seasonal menu that positively thrums with the full-on flavours of a Very British Winter. Pig tip: take a bracing walk through the surrounding hills and vales before grabbing a table by the roaring log fire and cosying down with a dish of cod and chorizo casserole or beef shin with horseradish mash and curly kale, while the boisterous burgers (see pic) are always a treat, especially now there’s a pulled pork with barbecue sauce option too – hah, who needs summertime?

While we’re still up t’hill, it’s worth remembering that kids eat free every Monday-Wednesday evening at the H&H (5.30-7pm; 1 paying adult eating per 2 little piggies); Wednesday 22 October is Pie and Pint night (a choice of 3 perfect pies plus a pint for just £10); Thursday 30 and Friday 31 October brings Halloween pumpkin carving sessions to the private dining room, and for Bonfire Night on Wednesday 5 November, there’ll be a hog roast, fireworks, a bonfire and live music on the menu from 6pm. Hoorah for the H&H!
