Tasty meal deals, kids eat free and new vegetarian dishes at the Hare and Hounds
We don’t care what the weather man says: it’s the perfect time to take to the hills (specifically the gentle, genteel Lansdown slopes,) our destination being the glorious Hare and Hounds. Why? Oh, there are multiple reasons why!
Firstly, Monday is Pie’n’Pint night at the H&H: grab a boisterous meat or hearty veggie pie accompanied by a pint of beer for £12.50 (wine and soft drinks also available with this deal if beer just ain’t your thing.) At t’other end of the week, Friday night is Steak Night: indulge yourself in a juicy 6oz rump steak with fries and salad from just £12.50, with the option to grab a bottle of Malbec for a tenner to wash it all down with.
Kids, meanwhile, eat for free between 5.30-7pm every Monday-Thursday (when accompanied by an adult eating a main course) and vegetarians have plenty of reasons to celebrate too, as a luscious new range of plant-based dishes have recently been introduced to the menu; think, roasted butternut squash with couscous, chickpeas pumpkin seeds and a brown butter vinaigrette (see pic) or a chickpea and sweet potato burger with halloumi, red onion marmalade and skinny fries. And on the drinks front, there’s a brand new low-alcohol beer available at the bar: Mantra IPA by Nirvana (just 0.5%), packed with floral aromas and hints of spice and tangerine.
If you’re looking for reasons to be cheerful, take to the hills.
