It may still feel like winter outside, but printemps is most definitely in the air – and the brand new seasonal menu at Bistro La Barrique offers a tres jolie selection to put a spring in our step, with a selection of fabulous fresh dishes including warm ricotta, spinach and mushroom tart, lentils tagine and mussels with pesto, white wine and cream sauce mingling happily with BLB classics such as terrines, seafood pancakes and, of course, l’escargots. It’s worth bearing in mind too that both the set lunchtime menu (£10.95) and the pre-theatre menu (£12.95) offer astounding value for money all year round. Bon appetit! BLB proprietors Ann and Michel Lemoine will be hosting a unique Supper Club experience at their Saltford home on Saturday 4 June, presenting a menu that includes a cocktail and canapés on arrival followed by croustade of asparagus with poached egg and butter sauce, petit épeautre and wild mushroom risotto, Arabian spiced rack of lamb with aubergine caviar, candy tomato and courgette gateau and fresh raspberries with Chantilly cream served in a choux pastry swan at the finale, all for just £40pp. Numbers are strictly limited to a maximum of 12 guests who are invited to bring their own wine, but be warned: this event is set to sell out fast; email hello@bistrolabarrique.co.uk for further information and to book your place today.
