Small Business Saturday in Bath, Saturday 6 December
The annual Bath Christmas Market is in full swing, the high street is rammed with chains and franchises offering Big Deals (oh come on, you don’t honestly think they’re doing you any favours, do you?) and the internet is creaking under the strain of all those online transactions. But Piggies: shopping (and refuelling as you go) doesn’t have to be like this!
Saturday 6 December is Small Business Saturday: a grassroots, non-political, non-commercial initiative that celebrates and highlights the success of small, independent businesses and encourages consumers to shop local. All manner of small businesses are involved, from coffee shops, delis, artisan producers and restaurants, to innovative entrepreneurs, online businesses, wholesalers and manufacturers. These businesses are the way forward for the UK if we’re really to rebuild a strong, buoyant economy – but if you don’t vote with you wallet, those legendary “small green shoots of recovery” won’t stand a chance of long-term survival. Bath’s unique independent retailers, cafes, restaurants and bars are the backbone of what makes the Heritage City so very, very special – and our support of them is for life, not just for Christmas. So Piggies, this is a call to arms: use your small, local businesses…or lose them forever.Categorised in: News
