Private Dining in Bath: Six of The best

You don’t have to be an A-list superstar to feel the need for a little bit of privacy from time to time. So where do we go when the need for total exclusivity strikes? For your delectation, we hereby present six of the loveliest private dining rooms in Bath, all of which offer their own totally unique vibe; go forth and discover the hidden hideaway that best suits your need for total seclusion! And remember to tell ’em that The Pig sent you…

The Bolt Hole at the Allium Brasserie

Located on the lower level of one of Bath’s best-loved special occasion venues, the Allium Brasserie‘s Bolt Hole (pictured – note those adorable little piggies on the wall!) is an intimate, utterly gorgeous flexible space offering seating for up to 18 guests at a large round dining table. Executive Chef Chris Staines has created an array of private dining menu options featuring many of his signature dishes alongside traditional favourites guaranteed to delight your diners. This uniquely atmospheric room is also perfect for informal receptions (might we suggest canapes and fizz?), or one of the Heritage City’s smartest high teas. Interest piqued? Click here for the full online lowdown and/or call Ian Taylor on 01225 461603 for further information.

The King William

This tiny little Georgian corner pub has two stunning first floor private dining rooms each suitable for parties of up to 20 guests. The Plum Dining Room is the more intimate option, featuring a seductively rich colour scheme, a wall of vintage mirrors and a long, banquet-style dining table that can comfortably accommodate up to 16 diners for lunch or dinner. Meanwhile, the front dining room offers double-aspect views across the hustle and bustle of the London Road and can seat up to 20 guests in style. All types of occasions can be catered for in either (or even across both?) rooms, from casual buffets to grand banquets by way of canapes’n’fizz, tasting menus or just a drinks party, and party organisers have access to an online pre-ordering facility. The Mezzanine Room at Yammo! – Bath’s loveliest, liveliest, fully authentic Neapolitan diner – easily accommodates up to 16 revellers in search of La Dolce Vita, while the Grand Mangiata (“Big Feast”) menu turns ordering into a breeze. Simply tuck into this Neapolitan Sharing Extravaganza – offering unlimited antipasti, unlimited misto fritto street food, unlimited pizza and unlimited desserts – for just £23.95pp, and it’ll all be delivered to your table until you ask your servers to stop! There is no additional cost to hiring the room, which can also be used for Cocktail Masterclasses and Wine Tasting classes (£25pp) with in-house sommelier Anselmo. It’s also worth mentioning that it’s possible to book the room for your own private ‘Social Cinema’ evening – choose your film, order your food, and settle down in the back row!

Gascoyne Place

Featuring two first floor dining rooms each offering splendid views onto Saw Close and across to the Theatre Royal, Gascoyne Place makes a lovely venue for special occasion celebrations and intimate suppers alike. We particularly love the “private club” ambience of the Round Table Room, which seats up to 14 diners at an antique, solid oak table and offers total privacy. If, however, you’d prefer more of a meet’n’mingle experience, the second upper-floor option offers a bright’n’breezy flexible space for up to 26 diners. Bear in mind too that GP can offer all manner of exclusive use options across this fascinating, historic building: the atmospheric Long Lounge is perfect for parties of up to 80, the Mezzanine can accommodate up 18 people in a party-on environment at the epicentre of proceedings and the Snug offers a cosy, contemporary pub-style vibe for up to 20 guests; click here for the full tour.

Bistro La Barrique

Creative; original; local; independent – that’s the Bistro La Barrique USP. Take your party in the same direction (why wouldn’t you?) and infuse proceedings with a Gallic flair by booking the whole restaurant (up to 30 diners) and/or the intimate lower ground floor room (18 diners) for your exclusive use. When the sun comes out, the super-pretty, secluded courtyard can accommodate 20 revellers in total privacy, while head chef Michel Lemoine’s perfect petits plats can be combined to create the perfect bespoke menus for any occasion. Ooh la la!

The Bath Priory

Uniquely beautiful, supremely elegant and utterly unforgettable: yup, we’re on Bath Priory territory. While up to 72 guests can be accommodated within this distinguished, highly-acclaimed country house hotel’s 3 interconnecting private dining rooms (The Terrace, The Orangery and The Pavilion, each of which overlooks the hotel’s stunning gardens), each room can also be booked for individual use, with round or long table options offering total flexibility for parties of 12-48 guests – click here for full details and prepare to be totally seduced.
