News from The Marlborough Tavern: Vegan Night, Steak Night & splendid set menus
On Wednesday 20 February, talented Marlborough Tavern Hob God Jack Scaterfield will be celebrating face-free feasting, presenting a collection of vegan dishes including miso aubergines with crispy noodles, homemade hoisin sauce, holy basil and peanut salad; cauliflower and sweet potato pakoras served with coconut lentil dahl; tempura banana blossom with nori chips, wasabe pea puree and pickled ginger tartare; and roasted celeriac and parsnip gnocchi with roasted piquillo peppers, black garlic puree and toasted walnut crumb. Tasty? Yes indeed – and so is the price for such imaginative indulgence: 5-courses, £40pp. Fancy a tipple to go with that? Upgrade to include the wine flight for just £25pp.
Meanwhile, the Tav’s new set lunch menu (2-courses/£15, 3-courses/£19) runs alongside the regular lunch menu every weekday, while the set dinner menu (2-courses/£19, 3-courses £23, available 6-7pm every Monday-Thursday evening) features favourite/classic dishes from the a la carte menu – both set menus offer amazing value for money. Talking of which (phew!)…. don’t forget that the first Tuesday of every month is the Tav’s legendary steak night: grab a juicy 28-day aged steak from just £12.50 (accompanied by fries and salad) and grab a bottle of Malbec to go with it for a tenner.
