Game and Garden Week at The Chequers, Monday 11-Saturday 16 November
The richest, most fascinating British food season (that’ll be autumn, then) is well and truly underway – which is why Ross Harper, head chef at The Chequers, is dedicating a very special, beautifully balanced lunch and dinner menu to the glories of locally-sourced game and winter vegetables from Monday 11-Saturday 16 November.
Choose from a starter array that includes delectable options such as wood pigeon with wild mushroom, pearl barley and tarragon or venison tartare with horseradish and quail egg followed by rabbit and sage schnitzel or venison and red wine casserole, finishing off with Black Forest Terrine or warm treacle tart for pud. There are veggie options a go-go too, and prices are distinctly down-to-earth (starters circa £8.50; mains £16.50-£19; puds £7.50) – game ON, piggies!
