Foraging Walk & Lunch at The Inn at Freshford, Saturday 20 October
The season of mists and mellow fruitfulness is upon is, making it the perfect time, then, for country walk. But if you’d prefer your aimless ambles to have a clear direction, head for the Inn at Freshford on Saturday 20 October, when foraging expert Chris (Heavenly Hedgerows) Westgate will be poised to lead you on an amble around the pub’s immediate pastoral environs in search of delectable edible treats. Afterwards, kick back, relax and chill out in the pub over a 3-course lunch made using local, seasonal, foraged ingredients – now that’s what we call a harvest festival.

While we’re on the subject of The Inn, may we wish the lovely folk at the pub’s helm – who have recently partnered up with the St Austell Brewery to take to do a bit of magic at The Griffin Inn – the very best of luck with their new acquisition. The Griffin (Monmouth Street, Bath) is the latest to join the proper pub family that already includes their Freshford consanguinean, the Cross Guns in Avoncliff (nestled on the canal towpath and featuring panoramic views from the riverside pub gardens) and the Old Crown Inn on the Bath-Bristol road that passes through the picturesque little village of Kelston.
