Celebrate National BBQ Week at The Old Crown, Monday 27-Friday 31 May
The barbecue has come a long way since the days of charcoal-encrusted pork sausages and burgers dressed up as blackened lumps of coal. And while doing it yourself in your own garden (or patio… or window box?) holds a certain charming appeal, letting the experts fire up the coals on your behalf is the way forward – especially when those experts have one of the most beautiful gardens in the Bath environs in which to host the party. So get yourself along to The Old Crown (Kelston, a very short hop away from Bath city centre) between Monday 27-Friday 31 May and enjoy all manner of tempting barbecue treats, fresh from the alfresco grill, accompanied by all manner of sides. And if storm clouds threaten to put a dampener on proceedings, who cares? This is kind of lovely pub that brings the outside in, takes the inside out and shakes it all about, whatever the weather.
Elsewhere on The Old Crown’s jewels, don’t forget that Fish and Chip Fridays brings beer-battered fish and chips accompanied by a pint to the table for just £12 at both lunch and dinner time, half-price bottles of Prosecco flow every Tuesday, all day long… and the pub’s very own Bug Hotel is currently fully booked by furry, ginger Tawny Mining Bees: a non-stinging party of busy pollinators who are fascinating to watch. Take our advice and buzz off to Kelston at your earliest opportunity!
