Breakfast, Mexican Night, Game Night at The Marlborough Tavern
If you’re looking for some tastefully lively good news to brighten up the increasingly dull winter days, you’ve come to the right place.
The Marlborough Tavern has just made an already very good thing even better by… introducing a breakfast menu! From 9.30-11.30am every morning, a range of fully-loaded brioche or gluten-free vegan baps stuffed with goodies such as Ruby and White dry cured, maple-glazed bacon, free range Cumberland sausages or portobello mushroom and fried egg (pictured) will be flying out of the kitchen alongside Wings of St Mawes’ smoked salmon and scrambled egg or smashed avocado and poached egg atop a hearty slab of toasted sourdough – now that’s what we call a super-stylish wake up call! And if you fancy staying for dinner…
On Wednesday 16 October, MT head chef Jack Scaterfield’s Mexican-themed menu brings tantalising delights such as black bream and tiger prawn ceviche with tequila cured blood orange, shaved fennel, fresh lime and coriander; smoked wood pigeon empanadas, with jalapeño, avocado queso fresco and salsa roja; and soft shell and blue crab taco with pickled red onion, chipotle aïoli, charred baby corn and salsa to the table for one night only. There’s a very special Verdi braised ox cheek carne on the 5-course menu too, which costs just £40pp for the whole shebang and runs alongside a Mexican cocktail menu (Diablo, anyone?) to guarantee that the evening va con un columpio.
And we’re still not leaving The Tav yet – why would we, when Jack declares Game On! on Thursday 14 November, presenting a very special local game-themed menu (£45pp) that boldly declares everyone a winner.
