Culture-fuelled Food
One should never rule out a bit of lateral thinking in our search for tasteful inspirations. Bath’s beloved independent bookshop Topping & Co, for example, regularly presents a magnificent menu of fascinating, grub-related delights; coming up over the forthcoming season, there are opportunities to meet original veg box pioneer Charles Dowding on Wednesday 18 April, local food hero and award-winning doughboy Richard Bertinet on Wednesday 13 June and Joanne (‘Chocolat’) Harris on Wednesday 11 July. Meanwhile, the Theatre Royal’s lively ‘Lunch and Listen’ events offer the opportunity to chow down on a seasonal 2-course lunch in the company of the theatre’s hottest visiting thesps, including stars from forthcoming productions of Evita (Wednesday 11 May), the Pitmen Painters (Wednesday 25 May) and Hamlet (Wednesday 8 June), while the brand new Bath Tourism Plus/Bath Festivals ‘Information Centre’ on Abbey Square regularly hosts tasting events from all manner of local chefs and producers – follow the BTP press officers on Twitter (@VisitBath) to keep ahead of the chattering classes.
