a bang up-to-date experience in terms of decor, service and overall USP
It’s not hard to find decent Thai food in Bath. It has to be said, though, that the Heritage City’s existing exotic institutions tend to offer a timeless (or, in some cases, a tad outdated) Thai-trad encounter. But while Koh Thai Tapas strictly adheres to a fully authentic format when it comes to the food selection on offer, it offers a bang up-to-date experience in terms of decor, service and overall USP. The easygoing mix-and-match menu formula (for yes, we really are talking tapas-style dining here) makes the KTT experience perfect for people who don’t know what they want, taste tourists and those with clear agenda alike. Thai curries abound, with the classic red and green options balanced by Penangs, a ‘Jungle’ variation and a highly recommended Massamann lamb. But generally speaking, the tantalising small plate options dominate the agenda here, from tempuras and crispy things to salacious vermicelli salads, dim sum and the unmissable 24-hour ribs: a soft, rich carnivorous treat that deserves signature dish stardom. As for ambience, think James Bond meets Cara Delevingne in Soho House: tasteful bling, laid back enough to offer a warm welcome to all. You’d be a fool not to make time for a pre-dinner cocktail in the stylish bar while you peruse the menu, and live music (there was a fabulous chanteuse crooning in the background on the night we visited) and a speedy home delivery service complete this voyage of contemporary exotic discovery.
